A Chilean shepherd's pie, perfect dish for potluck

Minced beef filling:

  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp thyme 
  • 2 bayleaves 
  • 325 gram True Aussie Beef minced
  • 1/4 tsp all spice powder 
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 10 pcs green olive
  • 3 pcs boiled egg, chopped
  • 50 gram raisin
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

 

Pie:

  • 250 gram potato, mashed
  • 150 gram sweet potato, mashed
  • 100 ml milk
  • 50 gram margarine
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Method

Instructions

  • Filling: sautee onion, thyme and bayleaves. Add in minced beef and stir well until thoroughly cooked.
  • Add in all spice powder, salt, pepper, sugar and green olives. Stir well. Add water and cooked until thickened and add in raisins. Put filling mixture in a casserole dish.
  • Mix all Pie ingredients and top on the filling inside the casserole dish.
  • Bake for 40 minutes  in 170oC oven.

Tips: use filling mixture for pasta topping for a simple and quick dinner.
